No Coasting. No Excuses.
BECO Gets It Done.

Our Team

Every organization takes on the personalities and characteristics of its people.  People are the foundation at BECO.  Our overriding philosophy is ‘BECO gets it done.’ It means no coasting, no excuses, no procrastinating and is an attitude reflected in all that we do.  Each BECO team member is empowered with this philosophy, allowing us to provide each tenant, broker and client with extraordinary service.  There is a fluid and collaborative approach to solving challenges that often finds the most unlikely team members putting their heads together to define and execute the best solution.  We’ve been in business for more than 25 years and we are continually reevaluating our processes and implementing new efficiencies. We embrace change.  Our people stay hungry and work hard.  It is our pleasure to introduce you to them now.

Providing outstanding tenant service since 2004

The BECO experience is measurably different, and nowhere else is this clearer than in our legal team.   Fern and her colleagues know what it takes to get a deal done, and the last thing they want is to waste your time or money with lengthy and unnecessary negotiations. For her part, Fern handles issues regarding leasing, acquisitions, financing, litigation and general corporate matters with a level of expertise, honesty and transparency that is palpable to our brokers, tenants and industry partners. She is considered indispensable by our management and tenants, and embodies BECO’s core spirit.

Before joining BECO, Fern practiced law with Shulman, Rogers, Gandal, Pordy & Ecker in Rockville, Maryland (specializing in the intersection of commercial real estate law and financial transactions).  Fern began her legal career at Melrod, Redman and Gartlan, a boutique commercial law firm in Washington, D.C., where she specialized in real estate financial transactions, becoming a partner in 1993.  She has written chapters of legal publications and articles for legal periodicals.

Fern is admitted to the bars of Maryland and the District of Columbia.   Fern received her undergraduate degree from Boston University in 1980, graduating Summa Cum Laude, Phi Beta Kappa, and a J.D. degree from Georgetown University in 1983, graduating Cum Laude and having served as an editor of The Georgetown Law Journal.
