Judy Garland famously skipped down the yellow brick road as Dorothy in her ruby slippers in the 1939 film The Wizard of Oz. After 80 years on display at the National Museum of American History, the treasured shoes were showing their age. Conservator Dawn Wallace spoke to Amy Kwak about her role in cleaning and stabilizing the ruby slippers, along with their history, and how she assisted the FBI in an investigation regarding another pair of slippers.
